Emerging from the Ashes

I began to paint when I couldn’t think

Too many things had happened

I couldn’t think anymore

Paint

I started to paint

What I couldn’t say

My distress

The demolition of my life

On the page

Trying to find a new way

Through the blank that had been drawn in my life

All stops gone

All lost

All gone

What then is one?

Who then is one?

I don’t know

What hope is there?

When all is lost?

How to emerge

Into a new world that’s

All dust and ashes?

Is there any hope?

Nope

Struggling with cosmic forces

Caught up in the swirl

The chaos

The pain

Overwhelmed

No end in sight

Just black

No hope

No light

But then

Paint

Black

Black

Black

But look there!

Gold!

And golden flecks among the ashes
